Preschool
Genies Preschool is a longstanding and well-established early childhood development preschool. During a child’s early years, the foundation is laid for a child’s future development and success.
About our school
At Genies Preschool we strive to help lay and build on this foundation to allow the child to exceed socially, physically, academically and culturally in primary school. At Genies Preschool we acknowledge the importance of playtime.
This allows learners to engage with their friends which promotes social skills, develops independence, confidence and creativity. We therefore allow our little ones to enjoy some uninterrupted child-directed play.
Our school welcomes children from all backgrounds and our language of tuition is English. We have one 3–4-year-old class and three 4-5 (Grade RR) classes.

Registration
Process
- Parents/guardians must phone the office to inquire about space.
- Depending on the time of enrollment, an interview test might be necessary.
- Parents/guardians will be informed on the outcome of the test and whether the learner(s) can be admitted.
Please note
- Learners are admitted in Grade R if the learner is turning 6 during the year. The learner must be able to speak and understand English well.
- Learners in Grade RR (4-5 years) will be tested to determine if he/she is ready for Grade R (5-6 years). Parents/guardians will be informed on the outcome of each test and whether the learner(s) can be admitted.
- Parents will then receive the registration form to fill in and complete.
- A non-refundable registration fee is charged every year. All existing learners are expected to register every year.
School hours and aftercare
Start Time
School starts at 07:30, but there are personnel on gate duty every day from 06:30 to make sure all learners enter the school safely.
Aftercare
After school hours, there is aftercare available at an additional fee. Aftercare is from Monday to Friday during the term from 13:20 until 17:00.
Please Note
Aftercare is not available during the month of December after the school closes for Term 4.
